Situated in north-eastern Catalonia, in the Province of Girona, the Carrilet Route stretches 39,7 km. Sloping gently from Sant Feliu de Guixols (elevation: 15 m) to Girona (70 m), the highest point on the Route is at Cassà de la Selva (130 m). The itinerary, which is suitable for walking and bicycle riding, is in very good condition and has been equipped with new bridges, railings and signs. Following the old narrow-gauge train track that used to link Sant Feliu and Girona, hikers and cyclists can get to know regions: the Gironès and the Baix Empordà, stretching from the Ter river basin, across the La Selva lowlands, and down to the Ridaura valley.
